In addition to the hundreds of guests we welcome into our dining room each day, The Bridge is also host to youth and adults from schools and churches who come here to provide mission and community service.  Groups are both local and out-of-state.

For those who need lodging while they’re in town, The Bridge offers accommodation consisting of two bunk rooms that sleep 10 people each, a restroom with showers and a family room with television where group members can meet for discussion–or just relax at day’s end.

Visiting groups perform a variety of tasks while at The Bridge.  Some are of a general nature:  cleaning, sorting food donations, folding letters and stuffing envelopes.  Some require a modicum of skill: minor repairs, painting, assisting guests at the computer.  Some are professional-level:  patching plaster, building bookshelves, repairing kitchen appliances.

One of the greatest benefits offered by those doing outreach is literally that:  reaching out to The Bridge guests.  It’s very common among groups who stay with us for several days for relationships to form with those they meet in the dining room.

To a sojourner who is dealing with  the tragedy of homelessness, who is more than likely struggling with unemployment, and who may well be separated from family, conversation with someone who genuinely cares is a wonderful gift.
